Guidelines for writing a literature review
In the social and behavioral sciences (particularly thosedealing with non-lab-situated work), the literature review stillperforms the functions of informing and persuading, but the informingpart is more extensive. Because behavior is multi-faceted, more thanone "strand" is necessary to properly inform the reader and demonstratethe legitimacy of the parts of the research question. In this example,the reader must be shown that leadership, social identity, andleadership identity are connected; otherwise, the reader has no reason toaccept the question as a good one.
